Around Lake Constance (Bodensee)

Lake Constance (German: Bodensee) is a lake on the Rhine at the northern foot of the Alps, and consists of three bodies of water: the Obersee ("upper lake"), the Untersee ("lower lake"), and a connecting stretch of the Rhine, called the Seerhein. The lake is situated in Germany, Switzerland and Austria near the Alps.

Places of Interest around Lake Constance:

Mainau is a "flowering island" notable for its parks and gardens. Frederick I, Grand Duke of Baden, created the island's arboretum, which now contains 500 species of deciduous and coniferous trees. The island also contains about 200 rhododendron and azalea varieties.

The Italian Rose Garden laid out geometrically with pergolas, sculptures, and fountains, and includes some 500 rose varieties. The Mediterranean terraces contain exotic pot plants, including palm trees, agaves, cacti, and Bougainvillea. The island as a whole contains about 30,000 rose bushes representing 1,200 varieties, and about 20,000 dahlias of 250 varieties.

The Rhine Falls (Rheinfall in German) is the largest plain waterfall in Europe.

Pfahlbaumuseum Unteruhldingen (German for 'Stilt house museum') is an archaeological open air museum on Lake Constance (Bodensee) in Unteruhldingen, Germany, consisting of reconstructions of stilt houses or lake dwellings from the Neolithic Stone Age and Bronze Age.

There are more nice spots around the lake, great restaurants and a nice boat trip on the lake will make it perfect, you can even take a ferry which will take you to Switzerland, on the next boundary is Austria, so three nations in one vacation!

Awesome!
