Oma Elsie's Apple Cake (Apfelkuchen)

Oma Elsie's Apple cake is a tradition.  Just want to share with you her recipe, you may also like it and because it is very simple, even I have the guts to bake it. laugh

Here are the ingredients:

200g Butter /Margarine
400g Flour
160-200g Sugar (depends on your taste)
1 Pack Baking Powder
1 pack Vanilla sugar
1/2 tsp Vanilla extract
250 ml milk

3 Eggs
1 pinch Salt
600 g Apple
100g raisins

Heres how to do it:

Soak the raisins in water for about 15-30 mins and set aside. Cut the apple into thin slices, set aside.

Melt the butter over low heat, set aside.  Preheat oven for about 180 degrees.

In a bowl add all dry ingredients and mix well. Then add the milk, eggs, melted butter, salt and vanilla extract. Mix it thoroughly until creamy.

Put the half of the batter in a baking pan and add the raisins and the sliced apple.

Top it with the rest of the batter covering the apple and raisins.

Put in the oven for about 15-20 minutes checking from time to time until the cake is lightly brown.

TIP: I used only 160g sugar so the applecake is not so sweet and I like it that way (not to much calories) wink.

Have a wonderful snack either with a cup of coffee, tea or hot chocolate!
