Beef Roulade (Rinderroulade)

Mother-in-law was so nice to share her secret Beef Roulade recipe.  It is very simple yet so delicious.

You will need:

5-6 pcs. Beef Roulade
3 Onions
Smoked belly fat
5-6 bay leaves
7-8 cloves

2-3 tbsp soya sauce
Salt and Pepper
Gravy thickener or just  some flour

First wash the roulade and dry it using kitchen paper.  Cut the onions into thin slices and the smoked belly fat into thin strips. Place the roulade on flat surface and sprinkle the meat with salt and pepper.   Add some onions and smoked belly fat and roll it up from the filled in, closed them using turkey lacers (Rouladenadel).

Using a pan, fry the beef roulade over high heat on every side.  Then add the rest of the onions and put a little belly fat to add more flavor. After that, put the roulade and onions in a pot or in a pressure cooker.  Add some water, soya sauce, bay leaves, cloves, salt and pepper, and cook the beef until it is tender.  I used the pressure cooker and cooked it over low heat for about one and a half hour.

Lastly, add the gravy thickener or some flour to thickened the sauce and serve it with steamed rice or cooked potatoes.

Bon Apetit!
