Homemade Pan de Leche

At last I made it, Pan de Leche dipped in hot chocolate and it is like what we are used to in the Philippines. Delicious!

Ingredients 1 for a bigger dough:

500g Flour (Type 450)
1 tsp Salt
250 ml Whole Milk
50g Sugar
75g melted Butter
1 pack dry yeast
Vanilla flavor (optional)
2 eggs

Ingredients 2 for a smaller dough:

350g Flour (Type 550)
150 ml warm Milk
1 pack dry yeast
3-4  tbsp Sugar
50g Butter in room temperature
1 tsp Salt
2 eggs

Either Ingredients you will choose, here is how we do it:

1.  In a big bowl add the flour and salt.

2.  In a separate bowl mix the following: milk, sugar, melted butter, dry yeast, vanilla flavor and one egg. 

3.  Stir thoroughly. Add the milk mixture to the flour. Knead it until smooth. Add some flour if necessary. 
     Let it rest for about 40-60 minutes in a warm place. 

4.  In a clean surface, sprinkle some flour and knead the dough again.  Cut it in half and form it like a braid (see video).
     Cover it again and let it rest for about 10-20 minutes. Whisk one egg and brush the dough surface with it.  
     Bake it in oven at 150 degrees C for about 30 minutes or until done.
