Estofado de Carne y Cerveza (Stew/Gulasch)

My mother is an excellent cook and one of our favorite is Estofado (Stew). I made some variations by adding Malt beer and the result is excellent! :)

TiP: You can also use white beer instead but then you have to add brown sugar.

Leftovers (if anycheeky) can be reheated the next day. This will make the sauce and meat more tastier!

Here's what you need:

4 tbsp Butter
1kg Beef cut in desired sizes and seasoned with Salt and Pepper
3 medium sliced onions
1-2 tbsp Flour 
1-1/2 cups water
Beef Boullion
Bay leaves
fresh or dried Thyme
1-1/2 cups Malt Beer
1 tbsp Custard

1. Fry the beef in butter on both sides and set aside.

2. Using the same pot or pan, sauté the onions in butter until they are slightly brown.

3. Add the flour, stir and add some water, beef boullion, bay leaves and thyme, malt beer, custard and the fried beef.

4. Let it boil, cover and reduce the heat to low and cook it for about 2-3 hours or until the beef is very tender.

5. Garnish with parsley or spring onions.
