Shakoy Balls (Quarkbällchen)

Quarkbällchen or Curd Cheese Balls is a sweet delicacy known here in Germany and is somewhat similar to doughnut or our very own shakoy (twisted doughnut) only that baking powder is used instead of yeast. Because of its similarity, I simply call them Shakoy Balls laugh

No need to wait for hours and you can directly fry them. They are very fluffy and delicious. The best thing is you have more time to enjoy your cup of coffe!wink


250g Flour
100g sugar
1/2 (8g) Pack Baking Powder
1 pack vanilla sugar
pinch of salt
1 ripe banana (optional)
2 eggs
250g curd cheese
Oil for frying
Sugar for coating

1. Mix all ingredients, add some flour if the batter is too liquid.

2. Put the batter in a piping bag.

3. In a frying pan, heat enough oil and squeeze about 3cm of the batter directly into the frying pan, cut each using a knife.

4. Fry them until golden brown. Coat them with sugar and serve.
