No Bake/Steamed Buns (Dampfnudel)

These steamed buns are popular here in Germany, they called it Dampfnudel. It is serve with vanilla sauce as dessert and it taste very delicious or as side dish for stews. Super yummy!cheeky


4 cups flour (544g)
1 tsp salt
40g sugar
1 egg
1/4 cup vegetable oil
250ml warm water
1 pack dry yeast (7g)
1 pack baking powder (16g)

2 tbsp oil and 150ml water for steaming

1.  Using a bread machine add the ingredients as listed.

2.  Without using a bread machine you can simply mix the ingredients an a big bowl as listed and knead until soft. Cover it in a plastic
     wrap or cloth and put it in a warm place. Let the dough rise for about an hour.

3.  Take it out and cut the dough to 8 - 10 equal pieces. Form them like a ball.

4.  Cover and let it rise for another 15-20 minutes.

5.  In a non-stick pan add 2 tbsp oil and 150 ml water. Turn the heat to medium.

6.  Put the dough one by one in the pan and cover using a glaslid. Steam until the water dries up and only the oil remains.
     Check the  buns if they are brown. Turn them upside down and fry them until they are golden brown.

My first time but definitely not the last time! wink
