Pichi-Pichi (Filipino Sweet Dessert)

Pichi-Pichi is a Filipino Dessert made from grated Cassava (available in most Asian Stores).

It is very easy to make and contains only 4 ingredients, it has a soft consistency, sweet, glutenfree and of course very delicious! 


1/3 tsp baking soda dissolved in
250 ml water
454g grated Cassava
200g Sugar
240 ml Water
red food coloring
75-100g Dessicated Coconut for coating
some water to softened the dessicated coconut

1.  In a bowl add the coconut and some water to softened it. Set aside.

2.  In another bowl, mix the baking soda and 250 water. Set aside.

3.  In a big bowl, mix grated cassava, sugar, 240 ml water thoroughly.  Pour the half of the mixture in another bowl and add the food coloring. Here I used red color. You can of course use any color you wantsmiley.  The other half has its original color.

4. Pour the mixture in a form and put them in a steamer until it become glassy or has a translucent texture.

5. When cooked, cool it down and coat each with the softened dessicated coconut.
