Salisbury Steak in Mushroom Gravy

My husband's favorite food, ground beef in gravy. So I though I will cook for him a very delicious beef recipe, Salisbury Steak in mushroom gravy. You won't also regret it.yesheart


2 tbsp oil
2 medium chopped onion
1 tsp garlic paste or minced
500g mushrooms
chives or parsley for garnishing

Salisbury steak:
1 kilo ground beef
2 eggs
1 pc bread roll soaked in water or 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
1 medium chopped onion
2 tbsp soya sauce
salt and pepper to taste

2 tbsp butter
3 tbsp flour
400ml beef stock
1 cup water (more or less)
1-2 tsp mustard
salt and pepper to taste
1.  In a big bowl mix the ingredients for Salisbury steak. Form them into oval patties and set aside.

2.  In a pan heat oil, add the chopped onions, fry until light brown and then add the garlic paste. Stir.
    Take the half of the onions and set aside.

3.  Add the mushrooms and stir continuously, add some oil if needed. Cook for about 3 minutes and set aside.

4.  Using the same pan, add a little oil and fry the patties on every side until brown (They are not yet fully cooked).
     Take them out and set aside.

5.  Now to make the gravy, add the butter in the pan then mix in the flour. Mix well. Add the beef stock and
     whisk in the rest of the ingredients. If the gravy is too thick add more water.

6.  Add the mushrooms and the beef patties and let it simmer over low heat until the patties are cook. 

7.  Garnish with chives or parsley.  Serve with mashed potatoes.
